The Door Axis Framed Mirror Bypass Closet Door System puts a full-length dressing mirror on both faces of a standard closet opening while the panels glide past each other on a double track. It serves bedrooms, dressing areas, and hallway closets where the door needs to work as a mirror and never swing into the room.

Each unit pairs two full-length mirror panels wrapped in painted steel frames, hung from a double overhead track and steadied by a bottom guide so the panels bypass each other with one hand. Because either panel can lead from either side, the system is universal reversible and suits reach-in closets accessed from both ends. The steel frame carries the glass rigidly at about 3 in of assembled system depth, and the factory finish comes in White or Silver to match trim or read as brushed metal. Units are sized for standard 48, 60, and 72 in finished openings at 80 to 81 in height, with the two panels overlapping about an inch at center for full visual coverage. Track, rollers, bottom guide, and fasteners are included. The Silver finish is stocked in the 48 in width; other silver sizes and additional widths are quoted on request.

Installation Notes

  • Verify the finished opening before ordering: the unit fits its nominal width at 80 to 81 in of height, and the two panels overlap about 1 in at center, so openings wider than nominal will show a gap at the jambs.
  • Fasten the overhead track through the header finish into solid framing; the panel pairs weigh 48 to 78 lb and the track carries all of it. Shim the track straight and level before final tightening.
  • Snap the bottom guide track to the floor plumb under the overhead track centerline so the panels hang vertical without leaning; carpet installations need the guide screwed through to subfloor.
  • Handle panels by the frame edges, never by the glass, and keep them vertical during the hang; set the adjustable rollers so each panel clears the guide evenly and the frames meet the jambs square.
  • Wipe the mirrors with a non-ammonia glass cleaner applied to the cloth, not the glass edge, to protect the mirror backing at the frame line.

Frequently Asked Questions

What opening sizes does the system fit?
Units are sized for standard 48, 60, and 72 in finished openings at 80 to 81 in of height. Measure the finished opening width and height; if your opening falls between sizes, the fit and trim options are reviewed during quote review.

Is the mirror on both sides?
Each panel carries a full-length mirror on the room face. Inside the closet, the panel backs are finished panel faces, so the dressing mirror works from the room side on both panels.

Is a soft-close upgrade available?
Soft-close dampers are not included with this system. If the project calls for damped closing, alternates are reviewed and priced during quote review.

What is the difference between the White and Silver finishes?
Both are painted steel frames around the same mirror panels. White matches painted trim and casings; Silver reads as a brushed metal line around the glass. Silver is stocked in the 48 in width, with other sizes quoted on request.
