The Light Archon Tempest GFCI is the outdoor-duty version of the self-test ground fault receptacle: tamper resistant and weather resistant in one 15 A, 125V duplex, built for porches, patios, garages, and every damp or wet location the code sends you to. Quote-first: add it to your quote list and the trade desk confirms counts and covers before release.

The device tests itself within seconds of power-up and keeps checking automatically beyond the base UL requirement, while staying able to trip on a real ground fault even mid-test. A status indicator light reads out power and protection state and flags line/load reversal at install. The weather resistant construction resists corrosion and UV in outdoor boxes behind a listed in-use cover, and the tamper resistant shutters satisfy the dwelling receptacle rule. Electronics are tuned against high-frequency nuisance trips, and the reduced-depth body with back and side wiring keeps shallow outdoor boxes workable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What box does it need?
A standard single-gang wall box. Your installer verifies box fill for the conductors present per NEC 314.16.

Can it go outdoors?
Yes. The weather resistant construction is made for damp and wet locations, installed behind a listed weatherproof in-use cover per the NEC. The cover is quoted separately.

What does the status light show?
Power and protection state, plus indication of line/load reversal at install. A device that loses the ability to protect locks out and will not reset.

Does it protect downstream outlets?
Yes. Feed-through terminals extend GFCI protection to downstream outlets when your electrician lands them on the load side.
