Panda White turns marble into graphic art: sweeping bands of ink black cross a soft white field like brush strokes, giving interiors an unmistakable focal point. Quarried in Sichuan, it is the stone of choice for bookmatched islands, gallery walls, and monolithic vanities in projects that want maximum contrast with a natural origin.

Slabs run approx 105 x 65 in and are kept strictly in quarry sequence, because the black banding only resolves into mirrored compositions when adjacent slabs are opened as pairs. Polished gives the ink bands their deepest saturation; honed reads softer and more architectural. Band density varies lot to lot and is approved on photography during quote review.

  • The signature bookmatch stone for islands and feature walls

Installation and Care Notes

  • Fabrication and installation by qualified stone professionals only; this program supplies material and sequencing documentation to your fabricator of record.
  • Field template verification is required before cutting; nominal slab dimensions are planning figures and every lot is confirmed against the released slab list.
  • Seam placement and vein flow direction are approved on drawings during quote review before fabrication begins.
  • 2 cm tops require continuous plywood substrate or engineered support at spans and overhangs; 3 cm spans further and typically carries overhangs to 10 in without corbels, confirmed by the fabricator.
  • Seal all faces and edges before grouting or first use, then follow the resealing cadence in the care schedule.
  • Marble is acid sensitive; specify pH neutral cleaners and prompt wipe downs in owner handover documents.
  • Edge profile, sink and faucet cutouts, and backsplash heights are selected and priced at quote.

Program Support

  • Every slab is graded on arrival and allocated from sequential bundles for consistency
  • Current lot photography is issued for approval during quote review before any slab is released
  • Support continues through templating and installation questions with your fabricator of record

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the banding vary?
Significantly, from sparse single strokes to dense layered bands. That range is the point of the stone; your quote includes current lot photography so you select the composition you want.

Is Panda White right for a working kitchen counter?
Yes with the same care as any marble: sealed at installation, pH neutral cleaners, and honed finish if you want etching to disappear into the surface. Many projects use it on the island and a quieter stone on perimeter runs.

How do bookmatches work here?
Adjacent slabs from the sequence are polished on opposite faces so the banding mirrors at the seam. Pairs and four panel matches are reserved at quote and the match line is planned on your drawings.

Which thickness for a waterfall island?
3 cm. The thicker gauge presents a solid edge at the waterfall mitre and carries spans with minimal support hardware.
